Staying at Kranenturm felt unique since it’s situated in a guard tower of the ancient city wall. The stunning views of the Rhine from the terrace added a beautiful touch to breakfast. The medieval building had plenty of character, enriched by charming decor throughout. My room was cozy, despite being a Budget Double Room. The location is perfect for exploring Bacharach, with local attractions just a short walk away. The friendly staff did their best to assist, although a language barrier made communication a bit tricky at times. One downside was the noise from the trains that passed right outside my window. it was disruptive, especially at night. I recommend asking for a room on the opposite side to avoid this. Additionally, the winding stairs might be challenging for those with mobility issues. Still, the ambiance and charm really made this stay memorable.

Loud, disruptive train noise all night long, especially from freight trains that pass right under the window. Lack of an elevator means hauling luggage up winding stairs without any place to comfortably unpack and settle in.
